A Special Weekend Workshop ...
Standing in Self: Practical Applications of
Spirituality in Everyday Life
with Richard Chamberlain and David Spangler

"The word 'self' refers to so many states of being.
Krishnamurti said the self is nothing--I agree.
I also think the self is everything.
I also think the self is God's (that is, all of life's) laboratory of
discovery: each self is an aspect of God learning."--

Thus writes Richard Chamberlain in a letter to David Spangler.
He goes on to say, "As a person who has feared and rejected himself
for decades and pretended to be a more acceptable someone else...the various levels of self are a subject I'd love to explore with you."

This workshop emerges from the desire and delight of these two old friends to work together to explore with others the mysteries and potentials of the self. Richard, as one of Hollywood's leading actors, brings to this workshop his many years of experience in a milieu of egotism, glamor, celebrity, and rejection that can foster some of the
most challenging experiences of self, combined with his own inner
journey to a new level of spiritual understanding and liberation.
David in turn adds his own unique wisdom arising from years of work
with the spirituality of incarnation and personhood.

The result is a workshop rich in insights with which to explore our common experience of self and discover ways to make that experience an empowering, creative, and liberating one.
Is the self real?
If it is, in what way is it real?
What spiritual power, if any, does it have?
How do we deal with the limitations of self, the challenges of self,
the deceptions and sufferings of self?
How is the self "God's laboratory for learning"?
These and other questions will provide content for our weekend together. It will be a time of discussion, personal stories,
laughter, and deep learning.
