Tribute to Richard Chamberlain

RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN
stars in the U.S. premiere of
“Scrooge - the Holiday Musical”

The production will feature choreography by Lisa Kent and design
by the Olivier-Award nominated designer Paul Farnsworth.

Produced by the British entrepreneur Bill Kenwright,
"Scrooge" is the live version of the 1970 movie musical,
with a score composed by Leslie Bricusse.
It has 19 musical numbers,
including the jolly "Thank You Very Much."

Running time: 2 HOURS, 25 MIN.

CHICAGO

Oct. 26-Nov. 7 - Ford Center for the Performing Arts,
Oriental Theatre - Chicago, IL

Stage left

Tuesday night's performance of the new musical "Scrooge"
at Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre in Chicago
was canceled after star Richard Chamberlain
bowed out because of "reported illness."

However, I'm told since his understudy Jonathan Weir
was ready and able to go on,
it was poor attendance from election competition
that resulted in the pulled plug.
Chamberlain performed with what seemed like
fine pipes at Wednesday's matinee.

A Dickens of a Time:
Richard Chamberlain Gets Scrooged

John Townsend spoke with Richard Chamberlain
about his views on gayness, politics,
and television in a phone interview
between rehearsals in Chicago.

Did you watch the foreign-policy presidential
debate the other night? I did watch the debate.
I thought Kerry came off pretty well.

The War in Iraq
I think Bush is handling it extremely badly.

Richard Chamberlain will no doubt be the handsomest

the rugged actor claimed in a telephone interview last week.

BEFORE AND AFTER THE SHOW IN
PHILADELPHIA, MERRIAM THEATRE.

Richard Chamberlain, doing Scrooge at the Merriam,
got a visit from "Angelo Cyrus Bantam"
(comedian Grover Silcox,)
a member of the Philadelphia Pickwick Club.
Bantam gave Chamberlain an official tie from the club,
dedicated to Charles Dickens' The Pickwick Papers.

And what the Dickens was going on at
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia the other day?
Scrooge's cast caroled Tuesday for patients.
Cameras from WPVI (Channel 6) and
WCAU (Channel 10) showed up.
In midsong, the Channel 10 shooter's camera died.
Channel 6's cameraman lent his battery to his rival
(after he got his shot, of course).

God bless us, every one.
