Repulsed, she slaps at his hands as Allan shoves him away and hurries Jesse along. Allan:"Don't mind the Mapaki, they're just grocery shopping." Jesse gives him a questioning look. Allan:"Cannibals!" Allan hurries forward ...... Allan:"Now that I've gotten you here, do you feel like telling me why?" Jesse:"Nope." Suddenly Jesse does a little leap and grabs her backside and spins around expecting to find some leering Arab, but she discovers instead. |

Allan:"A girl, have you seen an American girl?" Meanwhile two Turks carry a large rug over their shoulders. It isn't easy because the rug seems to have a mind of its own: Jesse muffled screams. At Dogati's and Bockner's place the Turks arrive with the rug and drop it on the rooftop floor. Dogati:"What a wondrous weavers we have in Tongola!" "A talking rug!" The Turks kick tthe rug an it unfurls. Jesse keeps on rolling right off the roof onto a passing wagon load of fruit. |

Jesse:"Are you Kasam?" Kasam:"I am Kasam." Jesse:"Great!" "You don't know how glad I am to see you/" "I'm looking for my father, Jediah Huston!" Kasam:"Was he to meet you here today?" Jesse:"Not today, no!" "He wrote to me two months ago and said he was coming to see you about a map." Kasam:"Many people come to see me about many maps." He sweeps toward her with a bright gold collar and bracelets Kasam:"Ah, this is a fascinating piece Egyptian, from the age of the Pharoes." Jesse tries to slip away but Kasam forces the two bracelets on Jesse's wrists and handcuffs her. |

Someome or something drops from a trap door in the ceiling into the midst of a high stack of antiques, creating a cloud of dust. The door of an antique wardrobe is flung open and out steps a none-plussed Allan Quatermain. He sticks his pistol into the startled face of Kasam. Jesse:"QUATERMAIN!" Allan:"In town less than an hour and already you're keeping bad company." Jesse:"You should have listened to Umbopo." "This isn't a friendly town." Kasam:"There is no need for the gun!" "I was merely showing her some Egyptian slave bracelets." "If you like these, I'm sure I can make a very good price." |

Kasam by the tunic and starts shaking him: "Where is my father, you bad sheeted slime?" Kasam:"Ah yes, it's coming back to me..... Huston you say.... Tall thin man." "He was here, examined the map and left." Allan:"What map?" Kasam:" I'm too embarassed to say..... to King Solomon's Mines."
Quatermain's attention has been drawn to a
Mummy case with
Kasam:"Rupert? I've been swindled!"
Kasam:"Look what you have done!"
