Tribute to Richard Chamberlain

THE LOVE OF HIS FANS IS A HELP
FOR HIS LONELINESS………

“The art of painting is more than a hobby for me”, the actor says.
“It is a vocation and a possibility to see the world with other eyes.”

Slowly the sun glides into the sea, the waves beat heavy on the sand. Richard Chamberlain (66) sits in front of his house in Maili on Hawaii holding this nature event on paper. His paintings cost till DM 200.000 and are hanged in renowned galleries. “Painting is an escape for me of the hectic world” “I feel free when I can reach for the block”, the shy world star explained.  ( The Thornbirds in an exclusive interview with ECHO DER FRAU ).

Sir Chamberlain, actually is there a country in the world where you are un-known?
I don’t think so.
Perhaps in Greenland or in Tibet. But it happens in the most unusual places people ask me for autographs and they tell me their motivation.
It is a wonderful feeling for an artist.
Also when it is partly disturbing.

At the height of your career you have received about 12.000 letters a week. How much is it today?
Perhaps still 1000. I can’t manage to read all the letters, though the love of my fans means a lot to me.

Do you miss a partner on your side?
Is was my personal decision to live my life alone.  I haven’t been married, because I hadn’t the feeling to have found the right woman.
My heart always was my best adviser, I always could trust my heart.
A long relationship hadn’t worked.
I always was afraid to loose my independence. I’m like a wolf.
A self-contained person who always roams around.

Actually, a person who lives on Hawaii where will he go for a vacation?
Recently I was in France and Italy for four weeks. I love Paris with the many galleries and restaurants. This state of mind, simple as in a dream. But also Rome and Toscane are places which fascinate me always again.

Do you have contacts in Germany?
Oh yes, I have some very good friends there.
And in Berlin I have discovered wonderful shops.
Still for shopping I fly to Berlin.
An interesting city, which continually changes.
Give my greetings to Germany.
Certainly I come back.

And when will we see you in new projects?
They offered me interesting projects.  When all is managed in the right way,  in the autumn I’ll start to work in Europe.
And I’m very pleased to that.
